Fredericksburg Salutes Our Wounded Warriors
      On Saturday, May 9, our community will host several busloads of “Wounded Warriors” from Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Audie Murphy Veterans Memorial Hospital and Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, and their families.  Watch for these individuals, wearing red, white and blue lanyards, and tell them, “Thanks for your service.” 

Founders Day Ceremony and Festival this Saturday
      The community is invited to participate in a wreath laying ceremony honoring John O. Meusebach and the founding families of Fredericksburg who courageously migrated from Germany and settled here, establishing the city of Fredericksburg.  A wreath-laying at the Vereins Kirche at the Marktplatz, located on the 100 block of W. Main St., will be held at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday, May 9, immediately followed by a Founder’s Festival at the Pioneer Museum grounds at 325 W. Main St.  Refreshments and living history exhibits will be available.  The festival is free with regular museum admission of $5 for adults, $3 for kids age 6 to 17, and free for children age 5 and younger.  
Fredericksburg Culinary Arts to hold Cooking Class on Saturday
     Learn to prepare finger sandwiches, scones and hot teas during the “Mother-Daughter Tea” cooking class at the Fredericksburg Culinary Arts this Saturday, May 9 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.  The class is held on the grounds of the Fischer & Wieser’s Das Peach Haus at 1406 S. The Bats are back!
      Now through October, the over two million Mexican free-tail bats that inhabit the Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area (Bat Tunnel) on Old San Antonio Rd. near Fredericksburg can be viewed evenings around sunset as they emerge from the tunnel on their nightly hunts. There’s no charge to view the bats; however, on Thursday through Sunday evenings, the trail to the lower viewing area will only be open to those visitors who pay admission.
