Archery Clinic at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site (Thursdays)

Basic archery clinic with bows and arrows provided or bring your own.  The clinic will continue every Thursday through the month of July.  It should be a fun and educational time for all participants and is a great lifetime sport for anyone to learn.  At the LBJ State Park Ball Field off of Highway 290 on Cornet Street in Stonewall.

“Bach to Luckenbach TX” – the 4th annual evening of classical string music and fundraising featuring the Fredericksburg Community Orchestra string and children’s ensembles on the outdoor stage.  Boxed meal by My Own Chef and t-shirts also available.  Tickets available online.

30th Annual Antique Tractor & Engine Club Show 2015

Tractors will roll into the Gillespie County Fair Grounds for the 30th Annual Hill Country Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Club Show.  Specific events will be from 3 to 6 pm on Friday and from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday.  Among the events scheduled will be tractor displays, engine displays, blacksmithing, tractor pulls, agricultural machinery demonstrations such as thrashing wheat and baling straw and several different corn processing demonstrations.  An antique tractor parade featuring the tractors participating in the show begins at 1:30 pm on Saturday.  There will also be a sawmill demonstrating old-fashioned sawing and wood planing.  The event will also feature several children’s activities along with things to buy.  Food and drink will also be available. 6th Annual Nimitz Golf Classic SOLD OUT

Play 18 holes at the exclusive, nationally-ranked Boot Ranch championship golf course. Stay alert! Our boys from the Army Air Corps have been flying missions in the area. Marines and armor are on the ground to help “attack” this challenging course! Chisholm Trail Winery 14th Anniversary Celebration

Historic Schools Open House (Crabapple and Willow City)

These schools are located on the year round Gillespie County Rural Schools Trail and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Stop by for a visit with former students and community members and combine a scenic driving tour with stops along the way.  The Willow City School will be featuring the newly conserved painted school stage curtain – all 9 by 20 feet of it!  Stop by the Visitor Information Center for a free driving map of the historic schools.

A Sousa Concert for Flag Day at the Pioneer Museum

Fredericksburg Wine Road 290 “Vino al Pastor”

“Vino al Pastor” literally means wine and “Shepherd-style” meat. In cooperation with the Texas Pork Producers, the 15 participating Fredericksburg Wine Road 290 wineries will team with a restaurant to prepare a recipe using pork shoulder meat, usually marinated with a blend of different spices and herbs, to be served with a wine especially paired with the pork recipe.  Just go to each of the wineries and get your complimentary serving of food and sample of fine wine!

Nimitz Junior Corps Family Fun at the National Museum of the Pacific War (June)

54th Annual Stonewall Peach JAMboree and Rodeo

54th celebration of the annual peach crop including peach judging, crowning of the Peach Queen, parade, food, music and rodeo. Gates open each evening at 6 pm. Mutton busting at 6:45 pm. Rodeo at 8 pm Friday followed by a dance with Jody Nix; adults $15 and kids 12 and under are free. Parade at 10 am on Saturday; rodeo at 8 pm Saturday followed by a dance with John Conlee; adults $20 and kids ages 2 – 12 $5; under 2 free. Weekend pass $30. Daytime activities on Saturday are free. It’s Independence Day and it’s on a Saturday this year!  World class teams will compete in this CASI-sanctioned event in an effort to win qualifying points towar the Terlingua International Chili Championship.  The sampling public will vote for their favorite chili of the day.  Enjoy entertaining chili cook showmanship, wine tasting and live music!  Public chili sampling begins at 11 am – $5 for 10 samples of chili.  Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Johnson City Library.

Pacific Combat Living History Program July 2015

Live Pari-Mutuel Horse Racing (July)

Come out during the Summer Season for four big weekends of exciting live horse racing at the Fairgrounds’ Class 3 track. Pick your favorites for quarter horse and thoroughbred racing as well as special races, trials, and futurities.  At the Gillespie County Fair Grounds.

Gates open at 11 am.  Post time is 1 pm.  Gates close after the last race – usually around 6 pm.  $7 adults; $3 children 6 to 12; under 6 free.  Reserved seats are $10 and box seats are $15.
